I’ve been in a scotch mood lately. Something about the cold weather, a fire in the fireplace, and reading the book Sh*t My Dad Says just calls for it. When a buddy of mine texted me about an off-menu (check) cocktail he was served at a great little hole in the wall (check) in NYC that was made from one of my favorite scotches (check), I couldn’t have been happier. Check out what The Fat Radish calls the Glasgow Kiss:
- 1.5 oz Auchentoshan 12
- ½ fresh pear
- 1 teaspoon pear jam
- 5 cardamom pods
- 0.5 oz Triple Sec
- 0.5 oz lime juice
- 0.5 oz simple syrup
Muddle cardamom pods with fresh pear in the bottom of a shaker. Add all the ingredients, shake and strain into an old fashioned glass with crushed ice, and garnish with a triple pear fan.
I love road trips. Since the days of Jack Kerouac, the road trip has become a rite of passage for anyone looking for a change of pace. But there’s a difference between having a truly original experience and just driving for an extended period of time.
